HYC is following the Trinity County COVID business protocols. We are classified in with Gyms and Fitness Centers. What this means in practical terms is that when TC is in:

Purple Tier = HYC is fully closed
Red Tier = 10% capacity = teacher plus 2 students
Orange Tier = 25% capacity = teacher plus 3 students
Yellow Tier = 50% capacity = teacher plus 5 students

As of March 24: we are in Orange Tier. Please go to https://www.trinitycounty.org/COVID-19/ for the latest information. Classes are scheduled between the teacher and the students. If you are interested in a class, please contact the teacher of your choice.

  1. SPACING: The floor of the studio is marked in 7' x 7' spaces. This will provide 7’ distance between mats, centered in each space.
  2. CLASS REGISTRATION: Students will need to register for each class directly with the teacher to guarantee a space. We want to avoid having people show up and and get turned away. Teachers will do a risk assessment with each student before acceptance into a class. Teachers reserve the right to refuse a student, or ask for a waiting period if they feel it is needed. Please reply to this email if you need contact info for a yoga studio teacher.
    Melanie asks that students register at least a day in advance.
  3. PROPS: Due to updated information, props can now be used, then will be set aside for 24 hours before being used again. You are welcome to bring your own yoga mat, blankets, pillow, props, etc. from home if you are more comfortable with this.
    If you need a mat, the studio has green mat material on a roll, $2.50/ ft, $15 for a 6ft mat. Your teacher will need to cut the mat ahead of time.
  4. SELF-ASSESSMENT: Before entering the studio, please self assess: Do you or have you had a fever, cough, sore throat, or unusual headache in the last two weeks? Have you taken multiple trips to Redding or out of the county in the last 2 weeks?
  5. MASKS: Masks need to be worn when arriving until you are settled on your mat. Once on your mat, they are optional. Masks MAY be required while on your mat in certain classes. Ask your instructor.
  6. The studio, including the bathroom, will be disinfected before each class.

Gentle Yoga

Gentle yoga class taught by Nadia for all levels.

Vinyasa Flow with Tara

This 60 minute total body workout is designed to make you feel good while she guides you through some fun sequencing.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga

This dynamic ashtanga vinyasa flow class, taught by Nadia, is designed to challenge and nourish your body through a sequence of movements using breathwork. The class begins with a series of sun salutations to warm up the body and joints, followed by flowing sequences of standing and seated postures, core strengthening poses, balance poses, inversions, backbends and twists, improving your flexibility and strength.

Students should have prior experience attending yoga classes.

Yoga for Every Body

This yoga class, taught by Melanie, is suitable for everyone. Mats, bolsters, blocks, and blankets are provided. Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Melanie's classes are $8/seniors, $12/general public. She also offers one-on-one private classes for $40 each.

Yoga with Helen

Helen’s classes are Ananda-style yoga, which are slow and meditative while increasing strength and flexibility. Monday classes are perfect for beginners. Thursday’s class is Healing Yoga, which is geared toward cancer patients and survivors. Friday’s class is a bit more challenging, but all are welcome. Classes are on a sliding scale from $5-10.

Yoga with Helen/Melanie

Taught on alternating Wednesdays by Helen and Melanie, this yoga class is suitable for everyone. Mats, bolsters, blocks, and blankets are provided. Wear loose, comfortable clothing.

Yoga with Tara

For anyone who wants to understand the alignment of yoga postures and receive a solid foundation of the practice. She will practice along with you and demonstrate how to use props to make poses accessible.
