Hayfork Yoga studio will celebrate World Peace Day on Saturday, September 21 from 11am to 2pm with a special Saturday class ending with a meditation for peace. The studio’s newest certified instructor, Helen Stone, recently graduated from the Ananda School of Yoga and Meditation. “Ananda yoga is all about peace,” Stone says. “It is slow and contemplative and is designed to prepare you for meditation.”
The day will begin at 11 am with a brief presentation and the history and philosophy of Ananda Yoga, followed by “energization” exercises. Yoga will be held as usual from 11:30 to 12:30, with a meditation for peace from 12:30-1pm. Refreshments and an open house will follow until 2pm. Yoga is $5; donations are welcome and encouraged but not required.
“Come for the whole program, or just come for yoga. Or if you’re just curious about the studio, stop in, take a look and have a cookie!” says Stone.
The International Day of Peace, sometimes unofficially known as World Peace Day, is a United Nations-sanctioned holiday observed annually on September 21.
